The Town of Bryson City Mayor and Board of Alderman are elected every two odd numbered years to serve for four-year terms. The Alderman serve staggered terms, with two members eligible for re-election every two years. The next election will be held in November 2027. The current council was seated on December 1, 2025.

The Town Board provides policy and budget direction, and the Town Manager, appointed by the Town Board, oversees the day-to-day operations of the Town and the implementation of policy as directed by the Board.
